Rally Testifies to Legislature’s Failure

Rally Testifies to Legislature’s Failure The Legislature adjourned May 23rd in failure because the Republican majorities refused to compromise with Gov. Dayton on a balanced budget. Outside the House and Senate chambers, more than 500 members of AFSCME, MAPE and other state unions let legislators know we weren’t going to slip away quietly. For more than three hours, union members held a deafening, mobile vigil – chanting "Tax the Rich," "No Budget, No Peace," “We Want to Work,” and "We Do Our Jobs, Why Don't You?"
